Automations for teachers
  • For teachers, school administrators, and education professionals, back-to-school begins weeks in advance as you work hard to prepare your classroom (and your daily routines) for classes to begin.

Getting ready for back to school as a student? Check out this round up that was made just for you!

From homework tracking to sharing photos with parents, as well as creating custom voice responses for your classroom, IFTTT has the ability to save you time every day. Additionally, existing integrations with Google Drive, Google Sheets, and multiple calendar services can help you streamline your home/work life. Text your family automatically to let them know you’re on your way home after school, and get a reminder when it’s your turn to do bus duty in the morning.

IFTTT connects with nearly 700 services and devices to create routines and enable Applets that help every thing work better together. This includes the classroom and the services teachers use daily to keep their classrooms running smoothly. We have created some new Applets as part of our back-to-school collection.

Save permission forms and important work

Using the Do Camera widget, quickly snap and upload a photo to Google Drive or DropBox. This is a great way to save copies of permission slips for field trips, have a backup of emergency lists, or take a picture of your whiteboard at the end of a lecture.

  • Get a reminder for specific events

Bus or lunch rotations can occur randomly throughout the week or over the school year. Create specific reminders when keywords appear in your iOS or Google Calendar.

  • Custom voice commands

If you have an Google Assistant in your classroom for timers or music, make it work for you with custom voice triggers. Google Assistant can even have customized responses to make your students giggle.

  • Visual reminders

Tell Google to start a timer and give your class visual cues on the timer based on smart lights in the classroom. When the timer goes off, change the light to a specific color or color loop. This can help you maintain quiet focus time while still giving the students the ability to know when time is up.

For tech-savvy teachers, using a Nanoleaf visual board is another creative solution to creating a visual cue.

  • Share with parents

For teachers who choose to share photos with parents via a private social channel, IFTTT can help you send specific photos to those spaces.

  • Track YouTube videos

Save the YouTube videos you want to share with your class by liking them and saving them to a school-specific note in Evernote or a Google Sheet.

  • Mute your phone

Automatically mute your phone when you walk into school to avoid being interrupted. Maybe recommend this one to your students as well. 😉

  • Explore
