If you like to stay updated on your favorite content, important industry news, or any other type of information, an RSS feed is an excellent way to compile everything you need. These feeds aggregate content from a variety of different sources and allow you to customize how it is gathered, displayed, and shared.
The best way to read content from an RSS feed is having it delivered straight to your inbox. That way, you can open your email in the morning and instantly catch up on your favorite articles. This automation saves time, keeps you organized, and ensures you never miss important content.
In this guide, we'll go over how our free automation tool IFTTT can allow you to connect an RSS feed with your inbox. Let's get started.
The two ways to automate with IFTTT
With IFTTT, we offer two methods to automate an RSS feed. These are enabling a pre-made Applet or building your own with our user-friendly Applet builder.
Enabling an Applet is quick and easy. Just click the Applet card below and it will walk you through the steps of connecting RSS feeds to email. You can also build your own Applet. We'll walk you through both methods in the next sections.
Enable an Applet
Enabling an Applet requires a free IFTTT account, so make sure to sign up or log in if prompted.

How to build your own RSS Applet with IFTTT
You can connect an RSS feed to 1000 different services on IFTTT. We have multiple email services that you can use to send that RSS feed article with. Follow the steps below to build your own custom Applet.
Step 1: Create a new Applet
Click the big Create button at the top right of IFTTT.com.
Click on the If This button to set up your trigger.
Step 2: Configure the RSS feed trigger
Search for and select RSS Feed as your trigger service.
Choose one of the following trigger options:
New feed item: Triggers when a new item is published in the RSS feed.
New feed item matches: Triggers when a new RSS feed item matches a specific keyword.
Enter the URL of your RSS feed (e.g., https://example.com/rss).
Click Create trigger to proceed.
Step 3: Set up the email action
Click on the Then That button to set up your action.
Search for and select Email as your action service. You can also use Gmail or Email Digest as an action.
Customize the subject and body of the email. You can include dynamic elements from the RSS feed item such as:
EntryTitle: Title of the RSS feed item.
EntryURL: Link to the original post.
EntryContent: Content summary of the post.
Click Create action to finalize.
Step 4: Activate and test
Review your Applet settings and click Finish to activate it.
Once a new item appears in the RSS feed, check your inbox to ensure the automation is working properly.
We have made building your own Applet as simple as we could, but sometimes it can be a bit tricky. If you need any additional help, visit our support page here.
